Local Artists:

In addition to the stunning artworks on display or for sale in the hotel, as part of policy of promoting local artists we are arranging a series of courses both here at the hotel and also at local studios for those wishing to receive tuition from a local artists here in the atmospheric South Sands. Some sessions will be beachside or outdoors, others will be in local studios, taking advantage of the wonderful light.

Mitch Tonks Winter Cookery Experience at South Sands

Award-winning restaurateur, food writer and South Sands consultant chef Mitch Tonks hosts exclusive cookery experiences at South Sands.

During the classes, Mitch’s expertise and boundless enthusiasm will be coupled with insightful instruction about all there is to choosing, preparing and cooking fish. The course promises to have those taking part fired-up to cook and enjoy the simple pleasures of a great piece of fish for themselves, friends and family when they return home.

Classes are followed by a leisurely lunch with wines to complement each dish which will be presented by "2011 Regional Wine Merchant of the Year" Red & White.

The following morning, guests are invited to join Salcombe Crab Traders on Salcombe’s fisherman’s quay where they will learn more about their famous and delicious, hand-picked crab. Afterwards, why not take the opportunity to explore the charming town of Salcombe or to discover the area’s breathtaking coastal scenery.
