Start your day with a beachfront breakfast. For lunch, meander from the sand to the terrace and enjoy Fowey mussels. Or in the Summer, arrive via the ferry and relax in our welcoming restaurant while cracking into the local fish bouillabaisse. Let our menu carry you through your stay, fully indulged and utterly content.
We welcome well-lived days and unplanned evenings. Residents and non-residents, come as you are, flip flops and all, beach shorts, even soggy doggies can dry off to come and join the rest of the family in the restaurant.
Seafood in Salcombe
Taste the difference with our quality sourced ingredients. Where possible, we use West Country products to craft our delicious dishes. Our location in the famous crab harbour of Salcombe means we know seafood at its best and offer a tantalising selection on our lunch and dinner menu.
To keep with the seasons, our fish of the day frequently changes, so no matter when you visit, you know there’ll be something delicious to try.
Beachfront Breakfast
Devour golden sunrises and join the early morning swimmers for a daring dip or remain in your cosy coastal room and watch the beach come to life. With breakfast served in the restaurant or on the sunrise terrace, begin your day with generous helpings of fresh air and sea views.
Whether a day awash with adventures awaits, or your only plan is to enjoy a delicious breakfast and relax on the beach, there’s something to entice everyone. From full English breakfasts to eggs benedict and pancakes, accompanied by fresh fruit, yoghurt juices and cereals, you can simple be and soak in the start of another perfect day.

Inviting Lunch
From relaxing on the beach or exploring Salcombe at your leisure, continue your relaxed South Devon day with lunch at South Sands. There’s nothing quite like that first bite of a sandwich brimming with fillings, the hit of chilli from the crab linguini or the taste of our perfectly cooked fish of the day.
Pick up the pace post-lunch with a coastal dog walk or paddleboard, or wind down with a book on the terrace and mid-afternoon coffee and cake. Nothing sets you up for the rest of the day like a relaxed South Sands lunch.

Classic Afternoon Tea
Is there anything more indulgent than an afternoon tea? Whether you’re celebrating something special or just fancy a treat, a South Sands afternoon tea is a splendid way to spend an afternoon. Sample a selection of seasonal sandwiches, cakes, warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a pot of tea or cafetiere.
For that special occasion, upgrade to a deluxe afternoon tea with prosecco or for something smaller but as equally as inviting, our cream teas will certainly hit the spot. Just remember, in Devon, it’s cream first.
Afternoon tea is served from 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm daily, booking is advisable.
Cream teas are available from 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm, no need to pre-book.
Delicious Dining
A day on the beach will leave you sun-kissed with an appetite for dinner. Experience relaxed dining with unbroken sea views across the estuary and dive into a menu inspired by South Devon’s finest seafood.
In the Summer months, our terrace offers a vibrant atmosphere with views of the bustling beach. Come Winter, retreat to the restaurant and savour your classic fish and chips or ribeye steak, then continue your evening with a nightcap by the fire.
We welcome residents and non-residents. Booking for inside seating is recommended and we can cater to dietary requirements on request, just talk to our team prior to arrival.
