We offer free parking for all hotel guests and those joining us for food and drink. 

Directions to our Car Park:

Drive past the beach with the hotel on your left. Feel free to stop at the hotel entrance and offload your bags with reception, we are happy to assist. Then, drive up the hill and around the bend to the right. Look for the buzzer located on the right, press and wait for the team to open the barrier for you.

Note: there is a walkway through the bottom of the car park leading back down to the hotel entrance.

We now have a dedicated EV charger installed in our Car Park. Please note that all car charging is now chargeable.

Tesla Charger: We have one Tesla charging point available. Payment is made directly at Reception. (For Tesla's Only)
EV Charger: Accepts contactless card payments at the point of use. (For All Electric Cars)
13 amp 3-prong socket: Still available if needed, guests must provide their own charging lead/ adapter. Payment is made directly at Reception.

The South Sands passenger Ferry runs between Whitestrand in the centre of Salcombe and South Sands Beach on the hotel's doorstep.

Carrying foot passengers, prams, bicycles and dogs, the South Sands Ferry is a fun and enjoyable way to travel by boat and experience the famous 'sea tractor', which travels out into the water to greet the ferry as it arrives at South Sands Beach.

The Ferry operates from March 23rd to October 29th (subject to sea and weather conditions).

Departing Salcombe: The first trip departs Whitestrand pontoon at 09:45hrs, then every half hour until 17:15hrs – except 13:15hrs.

Departing South Sands: The first trip departs at 10:00hrs, then every half hour until 17:30hrs.

An extra sailing is introduced from August 1st to 31st, extending the last departure from Salcombe to 17:45hrs and South Sands to 18:00hrs.

From October, the last sailing will be 16:45hrs from Salcombe and 17:00hrs from South Sands

While Salcombe itself does not have its own train station, there are several nearby options to consider. We have compiled information on the most convenient train stations for your journey to the South Sands Hotel.

Totnes Railway Station:

Distance to South Sands Hotel: Approximately 22 miles (35 km)
Journey Time: Around 40-45 minutes by car
About: Totnes Railway Station is well-connected to major cities like London, Exeter, and Plymouth. From Totnes, you can take a picturesque drive to Salcombe via the A381. There are also bus services available from Totnes to Salcombe.

Plymouth Railway Station:

Distance to South Sands Hotel: Approximately 28 miles (45 km)
Journey Time: Approximately 1 hour by car
About: Plymouth Railway Station offers good rail connections to various parts of the UK. Once you arrive in Plymouth, you can take a scenic drive along the A379, which will take you to Salcombe. Alternatively, you can explore bus or taxi options for a hassle-free transfer.
